Language Acquisition - A - Cassia County
The Language Acquisition A course introduces several key topics related to supporting students in developing their academic language. Content is tied to principles and resources from SIOP, WIDA, the Go-To-Strategies for Language Learners, and many online sources. Coursework is 100% online via the Canvas platform. During the course, participants will explore learning materials, post on discussion boards, and plan (and execute) improvements to lesson plans for the benefit of students. This course is intended for any faculty and staff involved in student instruction. Administrators and paraprofessionals can also benefit from the course, but will need opportunities to work directly with students (either whole-class or small group) in order to successfully implement course content and perform course assignments. In 2025, course assignments were updated to remove redundancy and improve flexibility for participants. Also, additional resources, primarily from SIOP, were added to learning and resource pages.
