A Place Where Children Lead the Learning
Nichole Billetz, Director of the Boise State Children’s Center, draws inspiration from her visits to Reggio Emilia, Italy, the birthplace of the internationally recognized Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. Through her leadership at the Boise State Children’s Center, she has thoughtfully adapted Reggio-inspired principles to create environments that support curiosity, relationship-based learning, and meaningful child-led experiences.
In this engaging keynote, Nichole will share what child-led learning can look like in practice and the intentional systems, environments, and relationships needed to support it. She will explore the role of educators as co-learners alongside children and highlight how responsive environments, collaboration, and inquiry can foster deep engagement and authentic learning. Participants will leave inspired with practical ideas, reflective questions, and innovative strategies to strengthen child-led learning within their own classrooms and programs.
