This course emphasizes the critical role of effective instructional supervision and evaluation in building a positive school culture. It provides an overview of Idaho's supervision and evaluation requirements, combining theory with practical exercises to develop participants' skills. Participants will become proficient in Idaho’s Framework for Teacher Evaluations and learn about evaluation techniques and Idaho’s legal requirements. As a result of active participation in this course, participants will: • Understand the Importance of Instructional Supervision and Evaluation: - Recognize the role of supervision and evaluation in fostering a positive school culture. • Master Idaho's Evaluation Framework: - Gain proficiency in Idaho’s Framework for Teaching, understanding its components and applications. • Develop Practical Supervision Skills: - Engage in interactive exercises to build practical skills in supervising and evaluating instruction. • Learn Evaluation Techniques: - Explore various evaluation methods and their purposes, including feedback for improvement, portfolio development, and personnel decisions. • Understand Legal Requirements: - Study Idaho laws, rules, and policies related to instructional supervision and evaluation. • Implement Effective Practices: - Identify and apply effective practices in supervision and evaluation to support instructional improvement and effective decision-making. • Enhance Leadership Capabilities: - Develop strategies for leading learning organizations, including mentoring, peer coaching, and evidence-based decision-making. • Build Assessment Literacy: - Develop a strong understanding of assessment principles and practices to effectively evaluate student learning and instructional effectiveness.

The annual Summer In-Service for the Idaho Agriculture Teachers Association will be held June 17-19 in Rigby, Idaho. Agriculture teachers will have the opportunity to attend general sessions, hear program updates, participate in committee meetings, and sharpen their skills by attending professional development workshops. The content of this course meets the requirements for ICLC and has been updated to include Standards #1, #2, #3 and #4 covering the following areas of literacy instruction: phonological awareness phonics fluency comprehension vocabulary writing instruction & assessment. The format will be “teachers teaching teachers” and sessions will be centered on FCS successes in the classroom to build strong cluster programs and industry pathways. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to … 1. Build strong programs in Idaho FCS community. 2. Establish a network of resources to support the delivery of the course. 3. Enhance curriculum with interactive activities. 4. Identify and demonstrate skills and attributes that will support a strong learning environment in the FCS classroom.

Note: This course is the optional professional development credit for the Passports & Passages conference. This course will facilitate discussion among English teachers on the topics addressed at the 2025 Passports and Passages Symposium. The course includes a one-day symposium held at the College of Southern Idaho, Blaine County Center in Hailey. After the symposium, class members will participate in an email discussion of symposium topics and complete a project.

This 15-hour course meets the requirements for the Idaho Literacy Achievement and Accountability Act and teacher recertification.
